A Message from Dr. Linda Stroud, Director of Schools

Welcome to the Greeneville City School System, where we have a rich history of excellence and a global vision of success for all students.

Nestled in the mountains of East Tennessee, our beautiful pre-Civil War town values the education of our most precious resource, our children. Our commitment to excellence is evidenced by student achievement scores that are consistently above state and national averages, challenging programs for all levels of learners, outstanding programs in the arts, championship athletic teams and many other opportunities for growth and engagement for every student. The list of state and national awards earned by the students, teachers, and leaders of our district is long and distinguished and can be found throughout our website.

Our schools form the heart of our small town community. We are blessed to provide quality public education in partnership with tremendous parent and community support, both vital factors in creating a world class school system. We deeply appreciate our town and business leaders for making education a priority in Greeneville.

Our students demonstrate intelligence, character and talent in a myriad of ways. We understand that our responsibility to educate includes high academic achievement demonstrated by a variety of indicators. However, we also deeply value the philosophy that each of our students is gifted in a different way, and comprehensive quality education involves providing opportunities to develop the talents and skills of every child.

In the Greeneville City School System we understand that it is all about the relationships between students and teachers that make the difference in learning. Additionally, we value our entire team of dedicated staff of instructional assistants, secretaries, custodians, bus drivers, nutritional staff and other valued employees who also serve as educators to our kids. Greeneville City educators have the calling, desire, and skills to “Cultivate the Mind, and Impact the Hearts” of every child who works and plays under our care!

I hope that you find this website to be helpful. We welcome your input, questions or comments.
