Former School Board Chairman and friend of education, Mrs. Kathryn Leonard, passed away in 2005. About a year after her passing, the Leonard Family donated the K. Leonard Administrative Offices to the Greeneville City School System. Mrs. Leonard was a kind, caring and considerate person known for always placing others' needs above her own. It is the desire of this school system to continue her legacy and honor her memory in a way that will hopefully benefit many of our own GCS colleagues who work hard each and every day in our schools. Some of our employees have had and still do have questions regarding the issue between Blue Cross/Blue Shield (BCBS) and Mountain States Health Alliance (MSHA). MSHA is currently in negotiations with BCBS for a new contract - the current one will expire on June 30, 2013. Several East Tennessee hospitals, doctors, First Assist centers, and hospice providers are MSHA facilities or providers. Unless an agreement is reached by June 30, MSHA will be dropped from the BlueCross network. GHS Racing Team Competes in 18th Annual Super Mileage Challenge

This year the GHS Racing Team once again traveled to Indianapolis to compete in the IMSTEA Super Mileage Challenge. The team achieved an average of 521.64 mpg, besting last year's 469.39 mpg average. The best run was 599.19 mpg. No changes were made to the engine this year; however, the drive train was reengineered with an electromechanical clutch, which greatly reduced the friction while freewheeling. Next year the team is going to crack open the engine and begin modifying to make it run leaner. The car will be sitting in the City Car Museum this summer until the team dusts her off and preps for next year's competition. Congratulations!

Sponsored by the GCS Education Foundation, the goal of the Alliance was to give students the opportunity to experience science in a plethora of ways!
