Welcome to Greeneville City Schools' Nutrition Department!
The Greeneville City School Nutrition Department provides an important support service to your child's education. Our goal is to help students meet their nutritional needs on a daily basis so they can be more ready to learn. To reach this goal, the department:
- Offers nutritious, appealing, well-prepared and affordable meals served by caring professionals in a pleasant environment.
- Provides experiences which help students develop wise food habits.
- Operates and upholds each cafeteria to the highest standards of safety and cleanliness.
Free & Reduced Meal Program Enrollment
Operational changes to the School Nutrition Program for the 2023-24 school year are as follows:
- Meals shall no longer be provided at no cost to all students. Students may receive meals at no cost if they are enrolled in Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) or Provision 2 schools, if they are Directly Certified, or qualify through a household income application.
- To be eligible for free or reduced-price meals, parents must submit a household income application.
- Non-CEP or Provision 2 schools will need to collect household income applications to determine student eligibility for free or reduced-price meals for SY2022-23.
- Additionally, household income applications may be used for other funding sources in your district. Benefits of completed income applications include:
- increased funding to support student education, technology, and internet access
- discounts for fees associated with the college application process
- scholarship opportunities and discounted fees for SAT, ACT and AP tests
- Students must be enrolled in a school to receive school meals. Students attending virtual academies are not eligible to participate in either of the federal school meal programs.
- Meals shall only be provided and served on days when school is in session.
- Additionally, household income applications may be used for other funding sources in your district. Benefits of completed income applications include:

Menu is Subject to Change
Each month, menus are posted so that parents, students, and employees can be aware of what will be served in our cafeterias for each day. GCS School Nutrition makes every effort to go by these menus, but with shortages and the issues with supply and demand at the current time, we have to adjust to what our suppliers send as substitutions causing a menu change.
Please be patient and understanding during this time. We all have the same goal and that is to provide students with a hot, nutritious meal every day.
