Dr. Lana Luttrell Named Principal of Tusculum View Elementary School

Director of Schools, Steve Starnes stated, “We are thrilled to announce Dr. Luttrell as the next principal of Tusculum View Elementary. Lana’s passion, work ethic, instructional knowledge, and administrative experience made her the top candidate from a very strong pool of applicants. With the support of the faculty, staff, students, parents, and community, we believe Lana can lead Tusculum View to continued excellence and further solidify its reputation as a high performing school.”

Dr. Luttrell received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Florida in 1998, a Master’s in Education from Milligan College in 2001, an Educational Specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University in 2007, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from East Tennessee State University in 2014.  Dr. Luttrell was also selected by Governor Bill Haslam to participate in the inaugural cohort of the TN Governor’s Academy for School Leaders at Vanderbilt University in 2016.

Prior to becoming an administrator, Dr. Luttrell served as an Algebra and Chemistry teacher for one year at Science Hill High School.  The following year, she returned to her alma mater, North Greene High School, as an Algebra, Chemistry, and Physics teacher for 12 years. 

Dr. Luttrell lives in Baileyton on the family farm with her husband, Adam, and their two sons, Matthew and Jacob.  She enjoys farming, running, hiking, crafting, remodeling houses, music, and spending time with family.  She attends Brittontown Church, where she teaches Sunday School and leads the choir.   

Dr. Luttrell says, “I am honored to be chosen to lead Tusculum View Elementary – a school and community entrenched in high expectations, high achievement, and lots of love for ALL students.  The Tusculum View family offers much support to our school and I look forward to working with a community and staff filled with excellent, dedicated people and watching students grow in maturity, character, and achievement. Tigers today and Devils tomorrow.”
