Class of 2020 Commencement Ceremony, Aug. 1, 9 A.M. EST, Burley Stadium

The GHS Graduating Class of 2020 will be celebrating its commencement ceremony on Saturday, August 1 at 9:00 AM. The ceremony will take place on the field of Burley Stadium with social distancing measures and mask requirements in place for the graduates and their guests. This event will be livestreamed on the GCS Video Channel.

USDA Extends Free Meals for Kids Until Dec. 31

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended summer meal programs to continue serving free meals to all children until December 31, 2020. This allows Greeneville City Schools to operate under the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) just as we did during the summer months to feed our children!

Greeneville Middle School to deploy 725 new Dell devices to all students starting Aug. 28

Greeneville Middle School 8th graders will be the first to receive brand-new Dell 3190 computers on Friday, Aug. 28. Team members, Mitch Shuler and Lisa Loewenkamp, will deploy 200 new devices and collect 200 old devices in one day. After this massive distribution is complete, devices for 6th and 7th grade students will be prepared for deployment. In total 725 new Dell 3190 devices for all students grades 6-8 with be deployed.

Under the continued provisions of the State Executive Order to protect the safety and welfare of the public, the Greeneville City (TN) Board of Education meeting on August 25, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. will be closed to the public.  In order to maintain transparency, the meeting will be livestreamed and a recording will be provided as requested.  The livestream link will be available on our website, www.gcschools.net, on the day of the meeting.

Greeneville City Schools Notification Regarding Cases of COVID-19 within the School District

As per the Framework for Safe Reopening of Schools approved by the Greeneville City Schools Board of Education on 7/14/2020, GCS remains committed to providing transparent information regarding the effect of Coronavirus on its school district. Beginning Tuesday, August 11, 2020 the system will begin providing updates on a weekly basis of the number of personnel COVID-19 cases within the school district. This information will be located on the system’s district website.

Jeff Townsley Named Interim Principal at GHS

The Greeneville City School District has announced the appointment of Mr. Jeff Townsley to the position of Interim Principal at Greeneville High School. The announcement comes one day after Mr. Patrick Fraley announced his resignation from the principal’s position at GHS to accept a new administrative role in another school district. Mr. Fraley will depart the district by August 18, 2020.
