“BEYOND THE BASICS”

We strive to go beyond the basics provided to public schools by government funding so our students will be college-ready and career-ready, and successfully equipped in a global society.

WE BELIEVE:

  • Public education is essential to the well-being of our community.
  • We must serve as ambassadors within our community, advocating for the school system, providing for an exchange of ideas, and communicating opportunities for support to the community at-large.
  • Every child should have access to rich educational experiences.

HISTORY

In 1996 a group of private citizens, working closely with the Greeneville City Board of Education and the Greeneville City School System administration, established the Greeneville City Schools Foundation as a 501(c)(3) organization. Over twenty members of the Greeneville community sit on the Board of Trustees, serving to guide the course of the organization.

The Greeneville City Schools (GCS) Education Foundation, an independent, non-profit organization, advocates for a strong system of public education and seeks to enhance educational opportunities for all students by serving as a clearinghouse for ideas, and a conduit for public support, which includes financial giving, volunteering, and celebrating teachers and students.

GRANT PROGRAMS

One of the primary goals of the GCS Education Foundation is to provide funding for innovative projects that reach beyond the scope of the school system's regular operating budget. Click here for more information on GCSEF's Grant Programs.
